Released in 2017, the debut album by the Delia Derbyshire Appreciation Society came about as the result of a 30-year friendship between two electronic music veterans, Garry Hughes and Harvey Jones. Garry has worked with artists as diverse as Bjork, Sly & Robbie, Killing Joke, The Art Of Noise and the Orchestral Pink Floyd project, he is also the co-founder of the popular Six Degrees act, Bombay Dub Orchestra. Harvey has collaborated with Julian Cope, Carla Bley & Chris Botti among many others. Their collaborative project quickly won over fans of classic 70s and 80s electronica like Cluster, Tangerine Dream, Tomita,Vangelis and Brian Eno.
After their stunning first album and a series of equally beautiful remix EPs, the duo are finally ready to release their full length, follow up, Wow & Flutter at the end of Oct. and our first taste of what’s to come is embodied in the first EP taken from the the upcoming release. “The Desert Beckons” continues Garry & Harvey’s love affair with classic, analog, modular synthesizers & all of the sounds & textures that can be coaxed out of these amazing machines. (Once again, the duo proudly proclaims that there are no guitars featured on the new album). The EP features a radio-friendly edit of the sprawling, hypnotic, original album track plus a series of sumptuous remixes by Bombay Dub Orchestra, DDAS themselves, The female Welsh production duo Zirenz & LA based keyboardist/composer Peter Adams.
