Our first release of 2017 comes out today and it’s a beautiful first taste of a new ambient project from electronic producers Garry Hughes & Harvey Jones, called Delia Derbyshire Appreciation Society. (Named for the pioneering electronic producer, Delia Derbyshire of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, who is perhaps best known for composing the theme music to the Doctor Who television show). The duo’s first full length (coming on 2/10) is a contemplative, yet melodic record, free of beats and vocals, expressing their love of analog synths, Mellotron sounds and vintage studio effects, beautifully evoking Garry & Harvey’s beloved 70’s era electronic ambient music. The Blue Filter EP features a track from the forthcoming album, along with two lovely remixes from Bombay Dub Orchestra & Harvey Jones. If you are a fan of artists like Brian Eno, Cluster, Harold Budd, Vangelis or TANGERINE DREAM, chances are you will love this project.
