Tanto Tempo Remixes features some very creative, and often dramatically altered versions of Gilberto's originals. Selected by Ziriguiboom artistic directors Béco Dranoff & Marc Hollander, these thirteen remixers represent North America, Brazil, Japan, and several European countries, yet the album manages to maintain a strong bossa nova flavor, even in its most modern, electronic moments. This is a tribute both to the producers' skills and to the strength of their source material. That source material, of course, is the record that finally proved what most of Brazil had long suspected: that Bebel Gilberto had inherited the musical genes of her father, legendary Brazilian songwriter João Gilberto and her mother, Brazilian singer Miucha. Tanto Tempo was not the end of the matter. As this remix collection proves, it was a veritable motherlode of musical inspiration.
"A great album made even better." 9 out of 10 stars!

"Sultry, tropical, and wistfully sexy, Bebel Gilberto's Tanto Tempo is as entrancing a debut album as one could hope for - bewitching hipsters the world over with its dreamy digitally enhanced bossa nova blend. Given her current status as the artist behind the most ubiquitous coffee house album since Portishead's Dummy , it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to find João's daughter teaming up with a slew of electronica heavy hitters for an all-star dancefloor makeover. The end result is really something quite special, an expansive, dud-free remix collection that takes in everything from Peter Kruder's pulsing Germanic soundscapes to the smooth grooves of soul-kingpins Rae & Christian. If you already own Tanto Tempo, consider Remixes an essential companion piece. If you don't - well, get off your skinny ass, hit the record store, and make a much-needed investment in your aural health."
